Pink Party Time

Party Platters: Glue the base of a glass to the bottom of a decorative plate with glass adhesive – I used ‘Liquid Nails: Glass & Tile Adhesive’. Once the glue has dried, spray paint the bottom of the platter. I bought all the plates and glasses from the Op Shop (Thrift Store) for 50c each.

Chocolate Dipped Strawberry Watermelon Stars

Watermelon slices are easy to cut with cookie cutters. Even fruits such as rockmelon, honeydew or pineapple will work if your cutters are small enough. These are simple to make, but can look quite impressive arranged on a platter. To make:
1. Cut the green end from the strawberries so they sit flat.
2. Dip the other end into the chocolate (I have used White Chocolate Melts, but the colour is up to you)
3. Cut the watermelon slices with the star cutter.
4. Attach the star to the strawberry with a toothpick.

Peacock Cake

I would typically begin each post with a little blurb about how simple and speedy my crafts are. This one is neither of those! Standby for the project that took every ounce of my time, patience and ability to conceive and construct. This is the cake I made for my daughter’s 6th birthday party:

Mini Party Cups

Disposable mini shot cups can be found at party supply stores or discount shops such as ‘Red Dot’. They are obviously growing in popularity as more and more places seem to be stocking them. Which is peculiar as I have never seen them used for actual alcoholic drinks. Though, perhaps that is more a reflection of the kind of parties I now go to. I can’t remember the last party I went to that didn’t have a pinata or round of pass the parcel.

These cups are perfect for serving kids party food. The cups measure only 40mm in height. The sweet foods are not only super cute to look at, they make smaller, healthier portion sizes. The best part is all the ingredients are ready made – no cooking required. All cups featured use cream spray on the top. This can be found in the chilled dairy section. The spray needs to be appliedĀ  just before serving as it collapses quickly. Also, some recipes use ‘Yogo’. For non-Australians, this is a flavoured pudding found in the dairy section. (If anyone has a brand local to their area please add it to my comments!)

Party Spoons

Here is a novel method of serving the food at your next kids party. Pictured above is a decorated Styrofoam cone with plastic spoons inserted into the sides. This project is not too difficult to achieve but there are a few steps in the process. Especially if you make more than one recipe to fill the spoons with! The cone pictured has a coat of pink acrylic and a crepe flower on the top. You need to stick it to the serving tray with double sided foam tape to prevent it from toppling over when the spoons are removed.
Finally, to serve the party spoon tower I have used a cheap vanity mirror I found at the discount shop. I glued 3 glass stones to the base so it is easy to pick up.
